About Hawthorn West Primary School

Principal’s Welcome

Dear Parents,

Hawthorn West Primary School is a dynamic and vibrant learning community where tradition and innovation are woven into the culture and practices of the school. The school caters for approximately 510 students from Foundation to Grade 6 in facilities that are a mix of new and old buildings. These spaces can be used flexibly and are supported by a collaborative, team based approach to teaching and learning.

Starting school brings with it many changes. The close relationship you have enjoyed with your child will be enhanced by a partnership with teachers at school. A key factor in student success is fostering a sound partnership between home and school through clear and regular communication. At Hawthorn West Primary School we encourage and support all parents to be actively involved in their child’s education.

At Hawthorn West Primary School we provide a quality education through stimulating and child centred learning programs. Our teachers are professional and committed educators who strive to improve the learning outcomes of all students in their care.

HWPS has a long history of community involvement and actively encourages our students to contribute to our local community. Through community involvement we believe our students learn about leadership, responsibility and appreciation of diversity. We aim to develop students who are confident, competent, articulate and resilient individuals. Through their active involvement in school life our students are inspired and motivated to achieve their best and make a meaningful and positive contribution to society.

We look forward to sharing in your child’s learning journey.

Kind Regards,

Glenys Williamson
Principal
